Master Guitarists Blend Styles at Summit
Three accomplished Keys guitarists — each with a unique style of play — will join together for the Florida Keys Guitar Summit to showcase their skills individually and in duos and trios. In its second year, the concerts highlight master guitarists and their varied Keys- influenced musical styles.
Contemporary guitarist David Feder, classical guitarist Mateo, and Latin guitarist Rolando Rojas will perform on June 2 at the Coral Isle Church in Tavernier, MM 90. On June 3, the guitarists will perform at the Florida Keys Country Club, 4000 Sombrero Road, Marathon; and on June 4 at the Key West Theater, 512 Eaton Street.
All concerts begin at 8 p.m. Dinner is available at the Florida Keys Country Club before the concert.
“Our theme this year — A Fusion of Master Guitarists – accurately describes what is in store for concert attendees,” said Mateo, who in addition to performing is also the founder of the Florida Keys Guitar Festival Summit series. “Like great individual vocalists who sing together for the first time to create new harmonies, our guitarists will reward the listeners with engaging new sounds from their established styles.”
National Public Radio said “David Feder has a magic way of making you feel like an old friend with songs that are original and intimate.” Jimmy Buffet introduced Feder at recent performance in the Keys saying: “You have a Florida Treasure in your midst…please welcome the great Dave Feder.”
Classical guitarist Mateo is a world-renowned composer and soloist who has performed with the Yehudi Menuhin Concerts and has been a Florida Artist-in-Residence. He is known for producing and performing in concerts all over the Florida Keys.
Rolando Rojas is a famed Latin guitarist who is not only a household name in the Florida Keys music scene, but has played with musicians such as Gloria Estefan. Graduating from the Izidor Handler Conservatory of Music in Vina Del Mar, Chile, Rojas is a multifaceted instrumentalist who is well-versed in composing and performing many different genres.
Daughter of Key West’s Mateo and Penny Leto, owner of the CoffeeMill Dance Studios, Belle Jampol was born with music in her DNA. She’s lived her life pursuing the performing arts singing and playing the piano, dancing at her mom’s studio and performing in leading roles in Keys Kids musicals. Belle has merged her passion for music with marketing at the University of Florida and will be graduating with a degree in advertising April 2017.
In addition, the Florida Keys Guitar Festival has merged with ICE…cool entertainment (Islamorada Community Entertainment), drawing upon its expertise in producing music festivals and concerts for the past 23 years. Together, they will continue provide the best in world class guitar concerts for residents and visitors to the Florida Keys.
